The NCCGA Spring Preview can only mean one thing; Its Golf Season. Club golfers from around the country have gotten the itch to get back on the course after a long winter break. The wait will end this weekend as the Spring 2015 season begins in California. The Southwest Region is hosting the first NCCGA regional tournament of the year at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club. Yucaipa is a beautiful golf club nestled in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, about an hour east of Los Angeles.

The First NCCGA Spring Preview focuses on the Southwest Region, a region rich in history. Formerly known as the California Region, it was the first region founded on the West Coast and has helped expand the NCCGA nationwide. This region itself has also grown over the years adding new teams Point Loma Nazarene University and the Golf Academy of America-Carlsbad. Returning teams National University, Pepperdine, UCLA, University of San Diego, and the University of Southern California also look to go low this season.

Regional Coordinator Dustin Watanabe is a member of the UCLA club team and has been around since this region's start in 2012. Watanabe has high hopes for this season. He says "Without a doubt, this is going to be one of our most competitive tournaments ever. With a field of 7 teams and 50 players made up of everything from hungry newcomers to seasoned veterans, I can't think of a better way to kick off this season's #Battle4Bryan."

National University has dominated this region the past couple seasons, winning both regionals in the fall and performing well at Nationals. Expect similar results this spring as National is ranked #2 in this year’s NCCGA Preseason Rankings. However, anything can happen once the pressure sets in, so look for a competitive tournament this weekend.
